Charley's Aunt
|
|
(1892) Farce by Brandon Thomas (1856–1914), in which a male friend of two Oxford undergraduates dresses up as his rich aunt from Brazil, to provide a compliant chaperone when they entertain a pair of young ladies to tea. The opportunities for disaster are compounded when the real rich aunt arrives. 'Brazil, where the nuts come from' is the play's most famous and most often repeated line.
