(1875–1934) One of football's legendary managers, for his ability to deploy a team to the best tactical advantage on the field and for his achievements with two clubs in particular. He took over Huddersfield Town in 1921; the club won the FA Cup in 1922 and became League champions in each of the following three years. He moved in 1925 to Arsenal and guided them to victories in the League (1931, 33) and in the FA Cup (1930); after his death Arsenal carried on to win the League in 1934 and 1935 and the FA Cup in 1936.
