Mr Chad
|
|
Stylized figure, quick and easy to draw, of a bald head, a pair of eyes and a long nose appearing over a wall with the question 'wot no ... ?' (whatever you cared to fill in). Chad was the most popular of graffiti in Britain in World War II, as a humorous outlet for complaints about shortages. No-one knows his origin or by what long process he was perfected. The Times declared in 1946 that he could claim no one man as his creator and might well complain 'Wot no father?'.
