Cathy Come Home

(BBC 1966)
Documentary play about the plight of a homeless young mother, written by Jeremy Sandford and directed by Ken Loach. It has remained a famous example of the power of television, for it created public concern about a specific problem and gave an impetus to pressure groups such as *Shelter.
