(24km/15m NE of Cheltenham) Village with a long street of delightfully irregular old houses, in mellow Cotswold stone and with stone-tiled roofs and dormers – often quoted as perhaps the prettiest village in England, and correspondingly much visited. The Broadway Tower, a landmark on the hill above the village, is a folly put up in 1800 by the earl of Coventry, who wanted something extra in the view from his house 32km/20m away.
