(1899–1983) A doctor in Eastbourne whose trial for murder in 1956 caused great excitement. He was suspected of poisoning his elderly female patients, after a succession of them had included him as a substantial beneficiary in their wills. He was tried for the murder in 1950 of Edith Morrell, but was acquitted after the defence had been able to cast doubt on much of the prosecution's evidence.
