Beveridge Report
|
|
(1942) The report produced by the Committee on Social Insurance and Allied Services, chaired in 1941–2 by William Beveridge (1879–1963). Its wide-ranging proposals for a social security programme (providing insurance against the costs of illness, unemployment, old age and death) became the basis of the *welfare state established in Britain after 1945.
