Beaumont and Fletcher
|
|
The play-writing partnership of Francis Beaumont (1584–1616) and John Fletcher (1579–1625) was for a few years, from about 1609, so successful with the London public that the two have been spoken of in the same breath ever since. Their collaboration ended soon after 1613, when Beaumont married an heiress. The best-known of their plays is The Maid's Tragedy (c.1610). Fletcher is also believed to have collaborated with Shakespeare on two plays, *Henry VIII and The *Two Noble Kinsmen.
