(Ynys Enlli in Welsh)) Small rocky island in the Atlantic, 3km/2m off the end of the Lleyn peninsula in Gwynedd, which was the site of an early Celtic monastery and then of an *Augustinian abbey. It became a place of pilgrimage, known as the island of 20,000 saints, and is now a bird sanctuary.
