bards
|
|
It was a tradition among all *Celts to give an honoured status to bards, or poets, who were selected to celebrate the achievements of the leader and the tribe. This tradition flourished most strongly in Wales, where in the Middle Ages there was an elaborate hierarchy of bards. A later period of decline was brought to an end by the revival of the *eisteddfod.
