Baker Street
|
|
(London W1) Road laid out from 1755 by William Baker, a speculative builder. It is best known for a connection with fiction. Sherlock *Holmes had rooms at 221B, an address at the north end of the street now absorbed within the head office of Abbey National. The 'Baker Street irregulars' are a bunch of street urchins who assist Holmes in The Sign of Four (1890).
