Bull-dog Drummond
|
|
Dim but excessively patriotic ex-army officer in the books of Sapper (the pen name of H.C. McNeile, 1888–1937). From his first appearance (Bull-dog Drummond 1922) he was immensely popular – the James Bond of his age – featuring in a new thriller almost every year till his author's death. His chief adversary was Carl Peterson, an international criminal. Like Bond he featured in a great many films, more than 25 in all.
