Aylesbury

|
(50,000 in 1991) Market town, administrative centre of Buckinghamshire. The original county hall survives (1723–40, by Thomas Harris), with its court room of that date unchanged. The Buckinghamshire County Museum, founded in 1862, is housed in a mainly 18C building which was the old grammar school. The town has been best known for its poultry, and in particular the Aylesbury duck.
