(1894) Play by George Bernard *Shaw which lightly mocks the conventional heroics of both love and war. A dishevelled Swiss mercenary officer, Captain Bluntschli, escapes from his pursuers after a battle by climbing into the bedroom of the young heroine, Raina. She stills his hunger with some chocolate creams, helps him to avoid discovery and later dreams of her 'Chocolate Cream Soldier'. He returns after the war, upsets the formal certainties of her life and replaces the pompous Sergius as her fiancé.
