and the Forty Thieves A story from The *Arabian Nights which has been much used as the basis for *pantomimes. Ali Baba sees thieves entering a cave after speaking the magic phrase 'Open Sesame'. He later uses it himself and acquires the wealth they have hidden there. The thieves' attempts to recover it are foiled by a female slave, Morgiana, who eventually kills them by pouring boiling oil into the jars in which they are hiding.
